Dispose of your branches and landscape waste?
I have some serious projects coming up and am looking for the best way to clean up .

Throw it in yard waste bags and put it out on trash days for the city to collect

Burn pile.
(I have a big back yard.) All that stuff goes into a pile and gets reduced to ash.

How: (rented) Trailer. Maybe a woodchipper as well, depending on the branches and wanting to prevent the scene in that picture.
Where: We’ve got these places where you can dump your wood and landscape waste in an appropriate way, and it’s usually free. You can also get rid of other stuff there, like remodelling debris and old household appliances, but ask for a small fee to do so. Don’t you have similar places in the US?

The city we’re in now has bulk collection with trash - just leave it next to the bins. If it’s too bulky they leave a note with instructions to call and cost for special pick up. I’m pretty sure they take it to the dump here.
Other places I’ve lived have had special bulk days (1-2x month) that are free, you just left it all curbside around those dates. Any wood/grass/brush in these cases got mulched, which you could buy w/proof of residency for $15 per truckload. Good deal IMO.
For branches, we’ve had good luck cutting them into 2-3' segments to get the bulk guys to pick them up without the fee. Extra work, but less a pain to dispose of.
Anyhow, check your city’s .gov page for info on solid waste/garbage services.

Every once in a while Waste Management does a free event where you take it to the local Civic center and they dispose of it for free.
If you cut it small enough your regular guys might take it. Otherwise you have to call and pay for special service.

Put it on the street in front of your neighbor’s house.
Seriously, though, just call the city and ask them what to do.

We either put them in our yard waste bin or take them to the waste transfer station where they take yard waste for free since the county composts it and sells it.

Talk to the city or the town you live in. If it’s a smaller town post something on a locals Facebook page.

We have a yard waste bin as part of our garbage pick up. Anything after that has to be in yard waste disposal bags. We’re also allowed to have burn pits in our area.
Your best bet is to call the city, and see what they allow.

Live in a semi-rural town where someone requesting a “burn permit” would be laughed at, and just pour some gasoline on it, with a trail that’s 20-30' depending on how big the brush pile is, and stand back, garden hose in hand, in case the fire decides to spread outside the circle you’ve wet around the pile, and light the trail.

If there’s enough big stuff I’ll rent a chipper and make my own mulch. Otherwise I’ll bribe the landscapers at work to take it. A case of Modelo gets you a lot of favors!

1. Move branches to yard of most hated neighbor or most hated minority. Your choice!
2. Apply thermite.
3. Acquire bow and arrow set.
4. Ignite arrows and fire at branches from a safe distance. Preferably the front porch of your second most hated neighbor.
5. Win.

Good luck finding one these days. They are all plastic now. Make sure it’s not illegal in your area.

I always put the branches on side of the road. One time I covered the entire sidewalk. Trash company sends a dump truck with a crane to pick it up. You can call, or just let them find out. At least thats how it works where I live in the suburbs.
Or if you have a good size yard and cutting oak, save some for a cookout :)

Depending on what it is my town had different places. Leaves can be tossed into the compost pile in town, but branches get hauled out to the municipal landfill and burnt (if you don’t want to burn them yourself).
I used my MJ to haul stuff, and discovered unloading was much easier if I put a tarp into the bed before loading, and made a “burrito” full of leaves etc. Then when the Jeep was out of commission I pulled the rear seat out of the Niva and made a “burrito” with a tarp back there.

If you are going the burn route, DO NOT USE GASOLINE!. Use a small amount of diesel instead.

If fire isn’t an option (burn ban, live in city, etc.) and your trash collector won’t take it, you could always get a Bagster . We’ve done this a couple of times and it is worth the cost.
While at my mom’s, I went the other route and took a load to the landfill. My grandmother passed last year and my mom has been working through the estate. There was a lot of stuff to dispose of, so I took a truck and trailer load to the dump. Put together, they held about as much as a bagster, but the cost was about half.
